1 Dec 2005 - A BIG thank you to the Cairn Hotel
With the success of putting books on the shelf for sale relying so much on what might be termed "creative distribution" (ie, delivery at no cost wherever possible!) it is always a great boost when helps pops up at just the right time. And such has very much been the case with Andrew Kirk, owner of the local Cairn Hotel in Carr-Bridge.
In the summer of 2005 it was the need to get a parcel of 10 books to Buckie up on the North East coast. A phone call by Andrew to his soft drinks supplier based in Buckie resulted in door to door delivery in 24 hours.
Later in the year it was a question of a parcel to the Glendale Toy Museum in the far corner of the Isle of Skye, this time achieved through the good offices of the brewery company.
And for 2006, hopes are high that restocking at the Cairn from a supplier on Orkney may open the door for book distribution to the first of the Northern Isles as well.
What else for 2006? The Western Isles? Shetland, Dundee & Angus? Oban & Argyll? Who knows what might be next, with creative distribution?
