24 Dec 2005 - Christmas marks a whole year of book selling

It was just a few days before Christmas in 2004 when the much-awaited parcel containing the first printed copies of Hey, Mr Big! arrived on our doorstep, with the main consignment for selling following on soon after New Year.

In the twelve months since then, copies of the book have been sent out to all sorts of places in Scotland, elsewhere in the UK and abroad.

The self-publication of Hey, Mr Big! and the associated fund raising efforts for The Jamie Fund have attracted coverage in newspapers, on the radio, on-line and most recently on television too, with attention increasingly focusing on the feel-good character of the project, and the many individuals and organisations who have willingly set aside thoughts of personal profit to lend their support.

Especial thanks are due to James Ross and the rest of the staff of Landmark Press, Carr-Bridge, whose open-handed help with distributing packages of books at no cost throughout the North of Scotland has contributed so hugely to the fund-raising success.

As a result of this year's efforts, with all the costs of self-publication covered and a healthy stock of books remaining for further sales next year, Hey, Mr Big! has brought in a net income thus far of some £1750, taking the combined totals of the Fund and book accounts to a few pounds short of £7000 .
