29 Jun 2005 - The Mr Big Group holds its first AGM
The production of Hey, Mr Big! is an entirely fund-raising venture, with all proceeds from the sale of the book going to The Jamie Fund, to help improve facilities for young people in and around Jamie's home village of Carr-Bridge.
In order to qualify for grant assistance from the Local Enterprise Company and the European Union, towards the costs of self-publication and the first print run of books, it was necessary to set up a not-for-profit community group to oversee the funding and management of the project.
The first AGM of The Mr Big Group, held in Carr-Bridge this week, offered an opportunity to take stock of the progress over the first six months since publication, and to consider where things should go from here. With the project now past the break-even point, two of the key areas for the future were identified as:
1. Pushing on with securing further printed book reviews which will assess the book on its own merits, rather than merely a sad news story.
2. Seeking to expand the number of outlets in the North of Scotland which are willing to stock the book on the shelf..
